Detroit Receiving Hospital is seeking a clinical coordinator to assist in planning, organizing, coordinating and implementing clinical pharmacy services including pharmaceutical care, consultative services and drug information services. This individual be responsible to coordinate the work of assigned professional and technical personnel, interns, residents and students. Participates in clinical research projects and clinical case conferences and various staff competency and development programs. Other responsibilities include:
1. Provides assistance in planning, organizing and implementing pharmaceutical care services including direct clinical pharmacy services, consultative services and drug information services to patients and health care providers directly and through committee work.*
2. Coordinates the work of assigned professional and technical pharmacy personnel, interns, residents and students by integrating clinical pharmacy services with available staff in cooperation and collaboration with supervisors. Schedules, evaluates competency and work completion of assigned areas for professional and technical staff.*
3. Provides pharmaceutical care by monitoring patients on acute and chronic drug therapy in order to recommend continued therapy, have therapy modified or refer case, with suggestions, to attending physician. Participates in patient care rounds and consults with health care providers to ensure most effective use of drug therapies.*
4. Precepts students in accredited programs for College of Pharmacy. Provides and participates in education and mentoring of pharmacy interns, residents, staff and students.*
5. Participates in the development of goals and objectives, workload reporting, budget development for specific service areas and monitoring of these objectives. Develops, secures approval of and implements policies and procedures specific to pharmaceutical care and patient focused care areas. Monitors and develops revisions to services as necessary.*
6. Assists in the planning and implementation, data collection, analysis and documentation of Medication Use Evaluation and Adverse Drug Reaction programs.*
7. Participates in clinical case conferences and various staff competency and development programs with pharmacy or other health care providers.*
8. Actively participates in clinical research projects and other scholarly activities as appropriate. Encouraged to publish results of completed study and to present study to audiences locally, statewide and/or nationally.*
9. Monitors procedures and processes to identify improvements, formulate recommendations, secures approvals, and facilitates implementation.*
10. Participates in the medication use system on aspects involving prescribing, dispensing, administering, monitoring and communicating medication needs of patients.*
11. Assists in the selection, hiring, evaluation, discipline and/or discharge of assigned pharmacy staff in service areas.*
12. Coordinates health education programs for patients and the community.*
13. Performs other duties as assigned.*

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree (with residency or fellowship preferred) or equivalent combination of education and clinical pharmacy experience. Three to five years of progressively more responsible experience in a hospital clinical pharmacy setting.
