The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) offers Specialty Pharmacy Practice residencies at Detroit Receiving Hospital, and Harper University Hospital. The DMC is committed to providing the highest quality postgraduate training in contemporary hospital pharmacy practice. The program is designed to meet the resident's individual needs and assist them in attaining their personal and professional goals. The DMC hospitals offer unique opportunities for pharmacists who desire advanced training in ambulatory care, critical care, emergency medicine, infectious diseases, pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice management. Our one-year ASHP accredited programs emphasizes all aspects of clinical and pharmacological management of patients.
Clinical Pharmacist Specialists practice in and serve as preceptors in all rotation settings. Rotations required are specific for each hospital and residents may take up to two of their rotations at DMC institutions outside of their primary site.
Pharmacy focuses on patient care at the DMC. As part of the healthcare team, pharmacists conduct patient rounds, analyze all drug therapy and provide up-to-date pharmacotherapeutic data. They are the medication consultants for patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
